🦃🍁 10 THANKSGIVING FOODS YOUR PET SHOULD NOT STEAL! 🐶🐱

Thanksgiving has arrived… and your pet has officially reported for “kitchen patrol.” 👀🍗

Those puppy-dog eyes may be convincing, but before you give in to that “I have never been fed in my entire life” face, make sure they stay away from these Thanksgiving favourites:

🚫 1. Stuffing
Often packed with onions, garlic and other seasonings that can be harmful to pets.

🚫 2. Gravy
It may be delicious, but it’s often high in fat and can contain onions, garlic and other ingredients that aren’t pet-friendly.

🚫 3. Turkey Skin & Fatty Trimmings
Too much fat can cause serious stomach upset and may contribute to pancreatitis.

🚫 4. Cooked Turkey Bones 🦴
These can splinter and cause choking, blockages or serious injuries. Definitely NOT a chew toy!

🚫 5. Onions & Garlic 🧅
Raw, cooked or powdered—these can be harmful to both dogs and cats.

🚫 6. Grapes & Raisins 🍇
Even small amounts can cause serious illness in dogs.

🚫 7. Chocolate 🍫
Keep those desserts well out of paw’s reach!

🚫 8. Sugar-Free Treats
Some contain **xylitol**, an ingredient that can be extremely dangerous to dogs.

🚫 9. Alcohol 🍷
Keep drinks away from curious noses and paws. Even small amounts can be dangerous.

🚫 10. The Garbage! 🗑️
Turkey bones, fatty scraps, food wrappers and other leftovers can turn the garbage can into an all-you-can-eat buffet—with potentially serious consequences.

🐾 **BUT WAIT… WHAT CAN THEY HAVE?**

If you want your pet to join the Thanksgiving celebration, stick with their regular food and favourite treats, or offer a small amount of plain, boneless, fully cooked turkey without seasoning, skin or gravy.

And remember… 👀
Just because they ask doesn’t mean they need it! 😂

Give them a belly rub instead. ❤️🐾

From all of us at Hôpital Vétérinaire de Shediac Veterinary Hospital, we wish you and your entire family—two-legged and four-legged—a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving!** 🧡🍂
